Core and API
Build drawing areas and production markers
Constrain customer artwork with rectangles, imported SVG paths, or a mask generated from an existing product element.
Guide overview
Before you start
- A 2D view and its base elements are saved.
- The printable shape or boundary is known.
- The Drawing areas module is enabled for administrators.
Expected result
Customer content is clipped to the intended shape while the original product element remains visible underneath.
Create the boundary
A rectangular area is best for regular print surfaces. Import an SVG for an irregular production mask, or choose an item from the Elements list and generate an area from its visible alpha shape.
Generating from an element creates a separate drawing area aligned over the source. It never replaces, hides, or converts the original element.
Open Drawing areas.
Choose rectangle, SVG import, or create from element.
Select the source element from the module list when needed.
Confirm the generated outline.
Align and configure behavior
Move or scale the area in development mode until it follows the product exactly. Configure whether content is clipped, constrained, centered on insertion, or allowed to cross the boundary for bleed.
Keep safe-zone guides and cut lines as non-printing markers rather than customer layers.
Align the area over the base element.
Set clipping and movement rules.
Add bleed and safe-zone markers.
Lock the area after validation.
Test the edges
Add text, a reusable design, a raster upload, and a shape. Drag and resize each item across every edge, then generate the production output and compare it with the storefront preview.
Deleting the selected area must remove it from both the canvas and the Drawing areas list; undo should restore both.
Test each enabled layer type.
Delete and undo one area.
Switch views and return.
Compare preview and exported output.
