Enable automatic placement with the app embed
Complete Shopify’s one-time theme step so linked products display their designer automatically in the product media area.
Guide overview
Before you start
- At least one native product is linked.
- The published theme supports app embeds.
- The merchant can customize and save the theme.
Expected result
The published theme has the Asuka app embed enabled and linked product pages mount one designer automatically.
Open the preconfigured Theme Editor
Use Enable automatic display from the app reminder or Settings. Shopify opens the active theme editor with the Asuka app embed activation prepared; apps cannot silently save a merchant theme.
The reminder can be dismissed without disabling the feature. Settings always keeps the Manage app embed action and can show the reminder again.
Open the app reminder or Settings.
Choose Enable or Manage app embed.
Wait for Shopify Theme Editor.
Open App embeds if needed.
Enable and save
Confirm Asuka Product Designer is enabled in App embeds, then click Save in the Shopify theme editor. Returning to the app without saving leaves the published theme unchanged.
Repeat this step for a different published theme because embed state belongs to each theme.
Enable the Asuka app embed.
Click Shopify Save.
Wait for the save confirmation.
Return to the linked product page.
Verify automatic detection
The extension detects the native product and selected variant, resolves its saved link, and mounts the designer in the supported media location. Unlinked or no-designer variants keep native product media.
With the app embed enabled and the theme saved, Edit customization is also available automatically in the cart drawer and on the separate cart page. No Cart customizations block is needed for this setup.
Open a linked product.
Switch variants.
Confirm one designer and one purchase action.
Add a customization and open Edit customization from the cart drawer and cart page.
Repeat on mobile.
